Obtain a Ghana passport

Before applying to universities abroad, you must secure a valid Ghana passport.

Prepare an academic CV/Resume

Create a concise academic CV or résumé highlighting your education, achievements, skills, relevant coursework, research projects, and extracurricular activities.

Prepare a Personal Statement, Statement of Purpose or Statement of Academic Intent

Write a focused and compelling statement that explains your academic interests, motivations, experiences, and future goals.

Take an English proficiency test, such as TOEFL or IELTS, or obtain an English proficiency letter from your university in Ghana

Most universities require proof of English proficiency. You can meet this requirement by taking an approved test such as IELTS or TOEFL or by requesting an official English proficiency letter from your university in Ghana confirming that your previous studies were conducted in English.

Take the standardized test, such as the GRE or GMAT (if your programme requires it)

Some graduate programs, especially in fields like business, STEM, and social sciences, require standardized tests such as the GRE or GMAT. If your chosen university and program require it, take the exam.

Obtain a copy of your transcripts from your university

Request an official copy of your academic transcripts from your university. These documents provide a detailed record of your courses, grades, and academic performance and are required by most universities as part of the application process.

Get your transcripts evaluated by an accredited evaluation company (WES, The Evaluation Company, i.e., Spantran, etc.)

Ask at least three of your former lecturers/professors to write recommendations for you
